Pakistani Style Wedding We live in a world full of diverse cultures and religions all living together. We all have a diverse way of celebrating a special day; one of the most important of these celebration is the day when two individuals join their lives in front of their dear ones. Thanks to the technology and the diversity of the world that we live in we are aware that every culture has their own way of celebrating this special day. In Pakistani culture the wedding preparations start from the day when a couple gets engaged. But the actual fun starts a week or two before the actual wedding day. The main ceremony consist of mehndi (event of getting the bride ready for the special day), mayoon, wedding (Shaadi) and reception (valima),†¦show more content†¦Rasam-E-Heena is perhaps the most important pre-wedding ceremony in Pakistani culture; It takes place one or two days prior the wedding. Before Mehndi ceremony was usually celebrated two days, first at the brides house an d a day later at the grooms house; though now they just celebrate it at once and perform the rituals for both parts. Usually in a Mehndi ceremony the couple is seated together in chair decorated with flowers. The bride generally wears a green or yellow/orange dress and have very little or no makeup on; shes also not suppose to take part in the celebration and have her face hidden with a veil. Married womens that are close relatives of the groom and bride feed the bride sweets and put henna (is a plant that when dry and mix with water, clove to make a paste leaving a dark color. Henna is temporarily) on her hand , this ritual is suppose to give blessings and good luck for their married life. Oil is applied to the groom head and sweet fed to him. An henna expert is called to put on mehndi to the bride and other ladies. As the night goes on there is a singing competition between both sides; they sing teasing side for the groom side and vice versa.
